So everyone knows that GCSE's are what help tell employers how clever you are and if you're the right person for the job.... Basically if you wanted to work in a shop and you were excellent at maths but you had no GCSE's and the man behind the counter told you he had a full day of interviews with other possible employees and one of them had an A, B, C, D or even an E in Maths then you can guarantee that the person with an E would get the job instead of you who has no grade. Why? Because it's the way the way of life.
The reason I just gave you the following lecture is because a lot of people have been sending me emails asking.... How do I become a filmmaker? How did you become a filmmaker? What grades do I need to become a filmmaker? What grades did you get at school and did they make you realise you wanted to become a filmmaker?
1) I realised I wanted to become a filmmaker when I was 12, the reason being my uncle bought a video rental shop and because of that I had access to almost every single film on every single release date that they became available to the general public, I must say you can learn a hell of a lot from the special features.
2) To be totally honest there are no exact grades you need to become a filmmaker, what you do need though is a good imagination, you need to be able to visualize words or pictures in your head and make them something else, they're what the industry calls “moving images”
3) As I said above you don't need grades to become a filmmaker I think I've already proved this by becoming a filmmaker, the reason I say that is because I have absolutely no grades what so ever! I mean I flunked high school; I even flunked college and never had the chance to go to university. What I did have was the chance to ask my parents to buy a computer, download an amazing script writing program, ask them to buy me a camera and go right ahead and turn my words into moving images, I got to tell a story that I wanted to tell.
I hope my blog this week will inspire some of you young people into wanting to follow my career as it unfolds because I just want to prove to a lot of people out there that dreams do come true but only if you really want them to!
Leave me some comments, tell me what your dream is and how you hope to make that dream reality in the very near future, speak soon.
